The Hiawatha was a passenger train operated by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (also known as the Milwaukee Road), and traveled from Chicago to the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The train takes its name from the song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Traveling at over 100 miles per hour twice daily it was known as America’s Fastest Train at that time (1838).
