The NS Mat '64's are the oldest Electrical Multiple Units (EMU’s) sill in use. About 70 of the original 246 Plan Vs are still used, but only on a couple of sprinter-routes in the south, the Zwolle - Emmen route, and the Amersfoort - Barneveld route. It is expected that the remaining Mat '64 trains will all be taken out of service in 2012.
Whether it's an almost vertical shuttle up a mountain or a voyage aboard a luxury carriage, a rail journey can be a unforgettable experience. So climb aboard and watch the landscape roll past through my blog. Discover the beauty of the world on trains. I will be happy to hear from you. E. Mail me on ravindrar@sltnet.lk
